The Delaware County Emergency Communications 9-1-1 Center was established in 1989 as a public safety answering point for EMS, fire, and law enforcement in Delaware County. The 9-1-1 Center serves the county’s residents, including all the cities, townships, and villages.

Delaware County Emergency Communications 9-1-1 Center is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

Delaware County Emergency Communications 9-1-1 Center is ready to answer your call and send help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Telecommunicators answer all 9-1-1 calls in Delaware County and dispatch 13 fire departments, Delaware County EMS, Delaware County EMA, Delaware City Police, and Powell Police.

In 2022, the center answered 102,541 phone calls, 40,157 of which were 9-1-1 calls.  14,082 of our 9-1-1 calls came from wireless phones.  The remaining 62,384 calls were on our non-emergency lines, such as calls for service from our residents, alarm company phone calls, or calls requesting general information.

The team utilizes many technical resources to serve our community each day.  Calls are answered using the VESTA phone system, calls for service are entered and tracked in the Tyler Enterprise Computer-Aided Dispatch system, and responders are dispatched using the Motorola ASTRO P25 trunked radio system.
